Boulé Health Careers - The Boulé Health Careers program allows teens to explore various health careers through hands-on interactions with health care providers currently working in the field, helping youth to pursue their interest in health care careers and to grow and develop as leaders in their community.  The first session will be held Monday, October 14, 2021, and the 2nd Monday of each month thereafter.  Click here for more information and to apply.

College Admissions 101: Keep Calm and Ace Your Application Process - Navigating college admissions can be overwhelming, ACT and Collegewise have prepared a crash course in college admissions.  Click here for more information and to register.  This event will be held on September 18, 2024 at 7:00 PM.

College Fair - The regional College Fair is an opportunity to gather information from college admissions representatives from across the country.  Click here in advance to register for an admission barcode.  This event will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 PM.

FOWARD (Future Opportunities Reaching the Workforce Apprentice Readiness and Development) - The FORWARD Pre-Apprenticeship event is designed specifically for high school students and aims to provide them with valuable insights into apprenticeship opportunities.  Highlights of the program include hands-on demonstrations in their virtual simulation lab, a Q & A information session, and a short tour of The Apprentice School for parents. Green Teens - The Green Teens is a volunteer program for high schoolers with a passion for environmental science and nature.  Click here for more information and to apply.

Military Child of the Year - Do you know a military child that demonstrates resilience, strength of character, and the ability to thrive in the face of the challenges of the military life?  Nominating them as a Military Child of the Year!  Operation Homefront’s Military Child of the Year Awards celebrate and recognize the tremendous achievements of outstanding military children.  Each year, hundreds of military teens (ages 13- 18) are nominated by a parent, teacher, mentor or guardian.  Nominations will be accepted September 10-December 2.  Click here for more information.  Nominations will be accepted September 10-December 2, 2024.

National Society of Black Engineers - Virginia Tech's National Society of Black Engineers will be hosting its Pre-college Initiative program in Blacksburg on the dates listed below.  If interested, email nsbe.vt.pci@gmail.com and request to be put on their mailing list.

Pathways2Careers - The Pathways2Careers program connects high school students with businesses in the Greater Williamsburg area. Each business tour takes place in the evening, and dinner is provided.  Students will have the opportunity to apply for internships and externships with P2C Business Partners. The program is open to students in grades 9-12.  Students in grades 11 and 12 will also have the opportunity to interview to receive one of two college or trade school scholarships.  There is no cost to participate in the program. Plant the Moon Challenge - The Plant the Moon Challenge (PTMC) is an opportunity for middle and high school student provided by the Institute of Competition Sciences.  PTMC allows students to collaborate with peers worldwide on a shared mission to grow the best crops using lunar regolith simulant (https://plantthemoon.com/).  Virtual information sessions will be held on October 11th at 5:00 p.m., October 11th at 8:00 p.m., and October 14th at 7:00 p.m.  Click here to apply.  Applications will be accepted for the PTMC Spring session until October 10, 2024.

United States Senate Youth Program - The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) will select two student delegates to represent Virginia in the 63rd Annual United States Senate Youth Program. Each delegate will receive a $10,000 scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for Washington Week.  High school Juniors and Seniors may submit an application.  Each application will consist of contact information, two letters of recommendation, a personal essay, an academic essay and administrative verification. Applications are available through the Online Student Application Portal and will be accepted until September 30, 2024.

Virginia Space Coast Scholars (VSCS) – 10th Grade: VSCS is a FREE program for high school sophomores focusing on the science, technology, engineering, and math integral to current missions at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport. Scholars participate in an online course from November to March, gaining insights into NASA’s innovative work. Top-performing students are invited to a 7-day residential summer academy at NASA Wallops, where they collaborate on mission design projects.  Apply to VSCS Here

Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) – 11th & 12th Grade: VASTS centers on human space exploration. Scholars design upgrades for the ISS, create a new crew exploration vehicle, and engage in space-related discussions. The program follows a similar format to VSCS, with online coursework and a summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center.  Apply to VASTS HERE.

Virginia Earth System Science Scholars (VESSS) – 11th & 12th Grade: VESSS focuses on NASA’s climate change research, exploring satellite missions that enhance our understanding of Earth’s systems. Scholars participate in an online course and a summer academy at NASA Langley, much like VASTS.  Apply to VESSS HERE.
