Welcome to Grafton High School in Yorktown, Virginia! Our teachers and staff are committed to supporting our military-connected students and families in their transition to our school and community. We are honored for you to join our school and hope the below resources will help provide a smooth transition to Grafton High School and the York County School Division. - GHS is located at 403 Grafton Drive in Yorktown, VA. We share a campus with Grafton Middle School.
- How many students does Grafton High School serve?
- GHS serves approximately 1200 students.
- What types of classes can students take at Grafton High School?
- GHS offers classes from the York County Program of Studies, which can be found here.
- GHS has a very active music program, with one of the largest and most decorated marching bands in the region.
- What special programs are available (Governor's School, Honors, IB, etc.)?
- GHS students participate in off-campus programs, such as Governor's School, New Horizons Career and Technical Education Center, NJROTC, and other offerings, which can be found here.
- York County's International Baccalaureate Programme is offered at York High School.
- York County's School of the Arts for theatre and literary arts is offered at Bruton High School.
- How many classes do students take per year and what is the schedule?
- Students at GHS take 7 classes per year on an A/B day block schedule, with one class meeting every day.
- What time do classes start?
- GHS hours are 7:20-2:05.
- What clubs and sports are offered?
- Our students participate in the Bay Rivers District within the Virginia High School League. View our GHS Athletics page here.
- Sports offerings include, football, cross-country, golf, girls field hockey, sideline and competition cheerleading, girls volleyball, swimming, basketball, baseball, softball, indoor track and field, tennis, track and field, and soccer.
- Activities include debate, forensics, scholastic bowl, theatre competitions, SCA, Special Olympics, Key Club, Beta club, DECA, National Honor Society, various content specific honor societies, and other student clubs which vary from year to year. View our Activities & Clubs page here.
Planning for your arrival to Grafton High School
The division's pre-registration online form is designed to enable parents to input their information directly into the division's student management system. To complete the enrollment process, families will need to make an appointment with the school the child is enrolling in and provide several documents after they have pre-registered their child.
